Write the decisions that should repeat
A useful brand brief explains what a viewer should recognize across different videos. Name an available caption font, readable placement, title wording, opening rhythm and ending. Include approved colours when they matter and specify details that must not change, such as packaging or a product name.
A style sheet an editor can act on
| Decision | Useful instruction | Review it in the output |
|---|---|---|
| Opening | Show the product in use before the title | Does the first shot communicate the benefit? |
| Typography | Use Montserrat, short lines and white text with a dark outline | Are spelling, contrast and line breaks readable? |
| Pacing | Quick setup, slower demonstration, held final product shot | Can the viewer follow the action and read the ending? |
| Colour | Warm surroundings; preserve the actual product colour | Does the treatment change the product being sold? |
| Sound | Retain approved dialogue; no added soundtrack | Are words complete and the soundtrack as requested? |
Start with a reusable brief
This is example direction, not a locked template. Replace the product and style choices with your approved details.
Create a 20-second 9:16 product video from my supplied clips. Open with the product in use, show the key action clearly and hold the final product shot for 3 seconds. Use Montserrat for captions, white with a dark outline, and keep text clear of the label. Keep the original product colour and approved spoken claims. Use the reference for pacing only. Preserve the supplied dialogue and add no music. End with the exact product name I supplied.
Carry the direction across a campaign
Duplicate the brief for another hook, audience or canvas, then change only the intended variable. Keep a copy of the approved wording and source list outside the editing session so another teammate can reproduce the request. Batch submission creates separate outputs; each still needs a visual and factual check.
Correct a drift with a narrow revision
Identify the moment, the current appearance and the replacement. For example: change the opening title to the approved wording, keep its timing and position, and leave the shot order and audio unchanged. Select an editable title or caption element when the interface exposes one.
When you need enforced brand controls
Briefs and reference guidance are creative direction, not permission-based brand enforcement. If your organization requires locked fonts, approved-only asset pickers or a shared transcription glossary, evaluate a product with those explicit controls. Descript documents such brand-management capabilities, with some restricted to Enterprise.
