Make the rules understandable
Use a short recorded explanation or a supplied title to establish how choices affect the food. Show what the participants know at each stage. Keep the setup concise without removing information needed to understand the game.
Keep each round connected
Present the option before its answer and follow with the action that actually resulted. Keep rounds in order when later choices depend on earlier ones. Do not attach a different response or reaction to an item just because the cut feels funnier.
Let the reaction finish
Remove repeated setup and unused waiting between rounds. Within a round, allow the decision and expression to register. Keep original speech audible and avoid cropping away the offered item or the person responding.
Use labels to clarify the choices
Supply verified item names and the wording for short decision captions. Place labels beside the relevant moment without covering the food or faces. Check that acceptance and rejection captions agree with both the recorded answer and the visible action.
Show the result the footage supports
Give the final dish enough screen time for viewers to connect it to the preceding choices. Include a tasting reaction only when it was recorded for that result. After reviewing the first cut, request a longer answer or restore a missing action if a round becomes confusing.
Review and revise the next version
Use the revision chat to explain what should change and what should stay. Select an editable element when available; objects inside a flattened clip may not be separate layers. Check the next render before delivery.

Do participants need to be blindfolded?
No. This workflow applies whenever recorded choices determine the food result. Explain the actual rules and preserve what happened in the footage.
Can I shorten a long challenge?
Select the rounds that tell the story and specify any that must remain. If omitted choices change the result, make the recap understandable without implying the visible rounds are the entire game.
Can a reference guide the comedy timing?
Yes. Describe the pace, pauses or caption treatment you want. Review the first cut against your own dialogue and reactions; a reference does not guarantee an exact effect or timing match.
Will missing rounds or reactions be created?
This workflow edits the recordings you supply. Upload a missing moment or choose a sequence that makes sense without it.

Yes. Shorty assembles your own clips into an edited MP4 from a written brief or optional reference video. Upload clips from your device or select videos from an accessible shared Google Drive folder. Tell Shorty the story, format and captions you want, then review the result and request changes.
For a week of business content, prepare a separate brief and footage selection for each video. Use batch editing within your plan limits, review every output and publish the approved files. Folder import does not automatically monitor new files or publish videos for you.

Shorty is a browser-based, reference-driven AI video editor for creators, marketers and social teams. It analyses your raw video clips and either a reference video or a written editing brief, creates a shot plan, applies cuts, reframing, captions, transitions and colour treatment, then cloud-renders a downloadable MP4. If a reference contains music, its analysed soundtrack may be carried into the render.
Shorty is built primarily for social and creator video: TikTok, Instagram Reels and Feed, YouTube Shorts, YouTube, LinkedIn and X. It supports 9:16, 4:5, 3:4, 1:1, 4:3, 16:9 and cinematic 21:9 canvases.

How Shorty works
- Set the direction. Upload a short reference video when you want a specific editing style, pick a reference from Discovery, or describe the desired cuts, pace, captions, mood and destination in words. A reference is optional.
- Add your footage. Upload the video clips Shorty should cut from. Shorty scans them for usable moments, faces, speech, motion and visual relationships to the reference.
- Get the finished video. Shorty builds the edit plan, processes the footage and delivers a downloadable MP4 in the canvas you select, including vertical, portrait, square, landscape and cinematic formats.

What does Shorty copy from a reference video?
Shorty analyses visual editing characteristics such as shot structure, pacing, cuts, captions, transitions, colour treatment and aspect ratio. It creates new visuals from your footage rather than reusing the reference's video frames. When the reference contains music, its analysed soundtrack may be used in the rendered output, so you must have permission to use that audio.
Which video aspect ratios can Shorty export?

How is Shorty different from a traditional timeline editor?
A traditional timeline editor gives you manual, frame-by-frame control. Shorty is reference- and brief-driven: it analyses the inputs, makes editorial decisions, and renders the finished cut. Use a timeline editor when precise manual control is the priority.
Is footage uploaded to Shorty private?
Uploaded media is stored privately to your account. Shorty uses AI service providers, including Google Gemini and Anthropic, to process reference media, footage, derived media samples, analyses and instructions as needed to plan and render the requested edit. Shorty does not use customer content to train general-purpose AI models without notice and any consent required by law. Read the AI and media processing policy.
Accounts and sign-in
You need a Shorty account to save projects and render videos. You can create one with an email magic link, or by choosing Continue with Google. The Google consent screen shown during sign-in identifies the same application, Shorty, at this domain. When you sign in with Google, Shorty receives only your basic Google profile information — your name, email address, profile picture and Google account ID — and uses it solely to create and authenticate your Shorty account. Shorty does not request access to Gmail, Google Drive, Calendar, Contacts or any other Google service data, and never sells or shares your Google account data with third parties for advertising.
Your uploaded footage stays in your account's private storage and is processed to operate, secure, support and improve the service. Shorty does not use your content to train general-purpose AI models unless it first tells you and obtains any consent required by law. You can remove uploaded assets in Shorty and request account deletion at any time through Help.
