Two new things today. The first is a voice changer: Shorty can now give a recording you’ve already made a different voice, and keep everything else, your words, your timing and the way you said it. The second is folder import: drag a whole folder from your computer onto Shorty, subfolders and all, and every video and photo in it lands in your edit.
Same Take, New Voice
Maybe you don’t love how you sound on camera. Maybe you run a faceless channel and want a voice that isn’t yours, or you want a whole series to sound like one narrator even though different people recorded it. Until now that meant recording again, or paying someone to. Now you can ask Shorty to change the voice on the recording you already have.
Just say it in your brief: “make my voice deep and warm,” or “give the speaker a calm, clear voice.” Shorty picks the voice that fits what you asked for, swaps it in, and builds the rest of the edit on the new take, captions included. You can also name a voice you like, or ask for the change in a revision of an edit you’ve already made.
It changes the voice, not the performance. The pauses, the laughs, the emphasis and the timing are still yours, so your lips match the words and every cut stays where it was.
Hear It
One take, four voices. The first is the presenter’s own voice. The other three are what the voice changer made from the same recording, with nothing else touched. Turn the sound on.
Make my voice deep and warm.
Give me a husky, gravelly voice.
Make me sound like a warm storyteller.
The presenter and his room were generated for this post; he isn’t a real person. Each voice is the voice changer’s unedited output for the same eight-second take.
What Stays Yours
Your words
Shorty checks the new take against yours word for word. If a word was added, dropped or changed, it keeps your original voice.
Your timing
Every word lands where you said it, within about a tenth of a second, so your lips stay in sync and the cuts don’t move.
Your delivery
Pauses, breaths, emphasis and emotion carry over. Shorty listens to the new take next to the original before it uses it.
Your accent
The voice changes, the way you speak doesn’t. An American accent stays American, whichever voice you pick.
Good to Know
The voice changer works on one person talking at a time, on clips up to two minutes long, and on up to six minutes of speech in an edit. It’s made for speech: singing, people talking over each other or a voice under loud music won’t convert well, so Shorty leaves those clips as they are.
It changes the voice, not the words or the accent. If you want a voice that says something new, ask for a voiceover instead, and Shorty writes the script and narrates it. If you want the ums gone too, ask for both: Shorty cleans the take first and changes the voice second.
It uses a set of ready-made voices and doesn’t copy anyone’s real voice. If a new take doesn’t pass Shorty’s checks, nothing changes and your edit keeps your own voice. We’ve tested it in English; the voices support many other languages, which we haven’t checked by ear yet.
A Whole Shoot in One Drop
The second change is smaller, and you’ll use it every day. You can now drag a whole folder from your computer onto Shorty. Drop it where you add footage, and Shorty goes through it, subfolders and all, and adds every video and photo it finds to your edit.
No more opening each folder and picking clips one by one. A camera card with an Exterior and an Interior folder, a phone dump, a shoot from three cameras: drop the top folder and it’s all there. Files Shorty can’t use, like notes, project files or audio, are left out, and it tells you how many, for example “20 files added. Upload starts when you click Edit. Skipped: 2 unsupported.”
Cameras that restart their numbering in every folder are fine: two IMG_0001 clips from different folders stay two clips. An edit takes up to 64 videos and photos and 8 GB in total, with up to 1 GB per file, and if a folder is bigger, Shorty tells you before anything uploads.
It works anywhere you add footage on a computer: the box on the home page, the footage picker and your Footages library. If your footage lives in Google Drive, paste a shared folder link instead, as before.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I change my voice in a video with AI?
In Shorty, add your recording and say it in your brief, for example “make my voice deep and warm.” Shorty picks a voice that fits, changes the voice on your recording, and keeps your words, timing and delivery. You can also ask for it in a revision of an edit you’ve already made.
Will the new voice still match my lips?
Yes. Shorty keeps every word where you said it, within about a tenth of a second, so the new voice stays in sync with your mouth. If a new take drifts further than that, Shorty keeps your original voice.
Can it change my accent?
No. It changes the sound of the voice, not the way you speak, so your accent, pace and pauses stay as they are.
Which voices can I choose from?
Eighteen ready-made voices: Roger (relaxed, casual), Sarah (warm, reassuring), Laura (bright, quirky), Charlie (deep, energetic), George (a warm storyteller), Callum (husky, gravelly), River (calm, neutral), Liam (young, energetic), Alice (clear, friendly), Matilda (an upbeat alto), Will (easygoing), Jessica (bright, playful), Eric (a smooth tenor), Chris (down to earth), Brian (deep, resonant), Daniel (a steady broadcaster), Lily (velvety, warm) and Bill (mature, comforting). Describe the voice you want or name one.
Can I use it on singing or a conversation between two people?
Not yet. It’s made for one person talking at a time. Singing, overlapping speakers and speech under loud music don’t convert well, so Shorty leaves those clips as they are.
Can I import a whole folder of videos at once?
Yes. On a computer, drag the folder onto the place where you add footage: the box on the home page, the footage picker or your Footages library. Shorty adds every video and photo inside it and tells you which files it skipped.
Does folder import include subfolders?
Yes. Shorty goes through every subfolder, and files with the same name in different folders stay separate clips.
How big can the folder be?
An edit takes up to 64 videos and photos and 8 GB in total, with up to 1 GB per file. If a folder is bigger, Shorty tells you before anything uploads, so you can drop a smaller folder or pick files by hand.
Sound how you want, and bring the whole shoot. Go make something.
