How can I combine performance clips into an audition reel?
Choose the excerpts that represent your work and provide the submission instructions. Shorty can assemble a first cut using those recordings. Keep complete performance moments, identify separate takes and review the result against the requested duration and format. If the recipient requires an unedited take, keep that performance continuous.

Keep each excerpt honest
Trim unused setup around a selected passage while preserving its internal timing. Do not combine parts of different takes in a way that suggests a single continuous performance. Make the boundary between recordings clear with a simple cut or a permitted label.
Let the original delivery remain audible
Use the sound recorded with the performance, or its correctly synchronized separate audio. Avoid added music that masks speech, vocals or movement cues. Check the beginning and end of every excerpt for clipped words and abrupt audio changes.
Review as the recipient will see it
Watch the final video at the intended size and listen to the whole sequence. Confirm that the framing shows the required action, the identification is correct and the duration fits the instructions. Request a different excerpt or a longer hold when a cut makes the performance harder to assess.
Review and revise the next version
Use the revision chat to explain what should change and what should stay. Select an editable element when available; objects inside a flattened clip may not be separate layers. Check the next render before delivery.

How Shorty works
- Set the direction. Upload a short reference video when you want a specific editing style, pick a reference from Discovery, or describe the desired cuts, pace, captions, mood and destination in words. A reference is optional.
- Add your footage. Upload the video clips Shorty should cut from. Shorty scans them for usable moments, faces, speech, motion and visual relationships to the reference.
- Get the finished video. Shorty builds the edit plan, processes the footage and delivers a downloadable MP4 in the canvas you select, including vertical, portrait, square, landscape and cinematic formats.

Is footage uploaded to Shorty private?
Uploaded media is stored privately to your account. Shorty uses AI service providers, including Google Gemini and Anthropic, to process reference media, footage, derived media samples, analyses and instructions as needed to plan and render the requested edit. Shorty does not use customer content to train general-purpose AI models without notice and any consent required by law. Read the AI and media processing policy.
Accounts and sign-in
You need a Shorty account to save projects and render videos. You can create one with an email magic link, or by choosing Continue with Google. The Google consent screen shown during sign-in identifies the same application, Shorty, at this domain. When you sign in with Google, Shorty receives only your basic Google profile information — your name, email address, profile picture and Google account ID — and uses it solely to create and authenticate your Shorty account. Shorty does not request access to Gmail, Google Drive, Calendar, Contacts or any other Google service data, and never sells or shares your Google account data with third parties for advertising.
Your uploaded footage stays in your account's private storage and is processed to operate, secure, support and improve the service. Shorty does not use your content to train general-purpose AI models unless it first tells you and obtains any consent required by law. You can remove uploaded assets in Shorty and request account deletion at any time through Help.
