Define “works” before you upload

A video can look impressive and still fail the assignment. Perhaps the product label is unreadable. Perhaps the edit cuts away before the demonstration finishes. Perhaps the captions turn a qualified claim into an absolute one.

Write three acceptance checks for your test. For a product reel, they might be: the viewer can see the action, the wording is accurate, and the file is usable in the requested format. Add a constraint that matters in your real work, such as using only your own footage.

Give it a normal mess

Use clips from the same sort of shoot you handle regularly. Include a less useful take so you can see whether the selection makes sense. Do not use private or restricted material unless you have checked the service’s handling and your permission to upload it.

Keep a small scorecard

Record preparation time, review time, number of corrections, and whether the final video passed your checks. Do not count time the software is processing as your own active work, but do count it when a deadline is involved.

If a tool repeatedly gets the same detail wrong, ask whether a better brief solves it. If the fix requires rebuilding the video elsewhere, include that effort. You do not need a universal winner. You need to know which jobs you can hand over with confidence and which ones still deserve a different workflow.
