What one Shorty edit costs
One edit is the whole job: you upload clips, describe the video or add a reference, and Shorty picks the shots, cuts them to the music, adds titles, captions and effects and returns a finished video. Every plan includes every tool, effect and caption style, and Shorty shows the credits an edit will use before you start it.

What one edit gets you
Each of these came from a single request on Shorty’s Auto director, from Shorty’s own test footage, with no manual editing. One request is one edit in the table above. Turn the sound on.
A rap edit from 17 phone clips
Brief: “Cut these car-detailing clips like a rap video, with “8 Mile” in cursive, glitches and mask transitions.” 17 clips in, one finished video out, in about 22 minutes.
A travel reel cut to its own beat
Brief: “Ten seconds of the Alps, cut to the clip’s own soundtrack, with two-word titles tucked behind the hiker or the mountain.”
Photos into a video, from a reference
Brief: “Scatter these thirteen photos around a hand-drawn clock, in the same chaotic layout as my reference, with no borders.” Made from photos alone.
Auto or GPT 6 Luna: what the price difference buys
Auto is the director most edits run on. GPT 6 Luna is the lightest director and is included in every plan; it suits simpler edits. On Creator, Auto covers about 7 edits a month and Luna about 44. You choose the director per edit, so you can keep Auto for the videos that need it.
What makes a Shorty edit cost more
The table assumes a typical edit. These change the credits an edit uses:
- Lots of footage: edits with many or long clips use more credits.
- A reference video: matching a reference uses more credits than a written brief alone.
- A newly created music track: it uses credits based on its length. Reusing a track from Shorty’s music library costs nothing extra.
- The director you choose: Auto costs about six times as much per edit as GPT 6 Luna.

Work out the cost per video for any AI editor
Plans are sold in credits, render minutes, exports or seats, so monthly prices are not comparable on their own. A lower subscription does not establish a lower cost per finished video. Convert each plan to the same unit:
- Take one real job: the clips you would supply, the length and format you need and one round of changes.
- Find what that job uses on each plan: credits, render minutes, exports or AI actions, including any retries.
- Divide the plan price by the number of those jobs the plan covers in a month.
- Add the time you spend preparing, directing and finishing, and any paid add-ons such as stock, music or extra seats.
- Compare the cost of an approved video, not of a first draft.
Where cheap per video is the wrong measure
If you have no footage and need scenes generated, a video generator fits better than an editor, and its cost depends on seconds generated. If you need to cut one long podcast into many clips, a clipping tool may produce more videos per dollar. Shorty is priced per finished edit of footage you supply: many clips, photos or a reference in, one directed video out.
