Every Edit Now Costs Half, and It’s Ready Sooner

The launch film. Turn the sound on.

Good news for your next video. From today, every edit in Shorty uses half the credits it did yesterday. Your plan stays the same, and so does its price. You just get about twice as many finished videos out of it, and each one is ready sooner.

Same Plan, Twice the Edits

An edit on Auto, the director most edits run on, used to take about 1,000 credits. Now it takes about 500. Every other director is half price too: an edit on GPT 6 Luna, the lightest one, went from about 201 credits to about 100. Nothing else changes. The plans cost what they did, they include the same credits, and every tool, effect and caption style is still in every plan.

So every plan makes about twice as many edits. On Auto, Creator at $19 a month goes from about 4 edits to about 8, Pro from about 12 to about 25, and Max from about 60 to about 120. If you choose GPT 6 Luna for simpler edits, Creator now covers about 44 a month instead of 21.

You don’t need to do anything. The new price applies to every edit you start from today, including edits paid for with credits you already have. Edits with lots of footage or a reference video use more credits than these, and they’re half price too.

What an Edit Costs Now

Here is every plan, with the cost of an edit worked out in dollars, on Auto and on GPT 6 Luna, which every plan includes. Shorty shows the credits an edit will use before you start it.

What One Edit Gets You

One edit is the whole job. You upload your clips, describe the video or add one you like as a reference, and Shorty picks the shots, cuts them to the music, adds the titles, captions and effects, and hands you a finished video. Here are three, each made from a single request. Turn the sound on.

A rap edit from 17 phone clipsCut these car-detailing clips like a rap video, with “8 Mile” in cursive, glitches and mask transitions.17 clips in, one finished video out. The same request now takes about 22 minutes, down from 28.
A travel reel cut to its own beatTen seconds of the Alps, cut to the clip’s own soundtrack, with two-word titles tucked behind the hiker or the mountain.Titles sit behind the hiker and the peaks, not on top of them.
Photos into a video, from a referenceScatter these thirteen photos around a hand-drawn clock, in the same chaotic layout as my reference, with no borders.Made from photos alone. The look came from a video the request pointed to.

Made with Shorty’s Auto director from our own test footage. Each came from one request, with no manual editing.

Ready Sooner

Cheaper is only half of it. Edits now finish about a fifth sooner. In our tests, the 17-clip rap edit above went from about 28 minutes to about 22, and a trailer made from a single clip went from about 18 minutes to under 15.

Most of that time used to go on waiting rather than editing. Now Shorty looks at several clips at once instead of one after another, and makes your music while it edits instead of pausing until the track is ready. It also writes a complete first cut early, then improves it from what it sees, rather than studying every frame before it cuts anything.

Changes are quick too. On a finished cut, asking for “darker and colder” came back in about four minutes. And you never have to watch the progress screen: close it whenever you like, and your video will be waiting in Edits.

A Second Look Before You See It

Faster and cheaper shouldn’t mean sloppier. Before an edit reaches you, a second reviewer now watches the preview against your request and points out anything that’s off, like a split-second flash of the wrong shot or a caption over someone’s face. The editor fixes what needs fixing before you see it.

Captions got the same care. They’re now planned by the same editor that cuts the picture, so they work around titles and faces instead of landing on top of them.

When the reviewer does find something, the fix adds a few minutes. We think a cleaner first cut is worth them.

How Shorty Compares on Price

Prices are hard to compare, because every AI editor counts something different: videos, minutes of footage, minutes of output or credits. So we looked at what roughly $20 a month buys from the AI editors that come up most when you ask for a cheap one that edits your own clips, using each one’s own pricing page and monthly billing.

On Creator, a Shorty edit now costs about $2.16 on Auto and 43 cents on GPT 6 Luna, for a finished edit from your own clips with captions and music. CenaCut, the closest match in what it does, works out to about $3.80 a video. Submagic is cheaper per video than an Auto edit, at about $1.27, but that buys captions and polish on one video rather than an edit made from your clips. If you’re happy to make every cut yourself, CapCut’s free plan is cheaper still.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does an AI video edit cost in Shorty now?

On Auto, the default director, an edit now uses about 500 credits, half the 1,000 or so it used before 21 October 2026. That’s about $2.16 an edit on the $19 Creator plan, down to about $1.16 on Max billed annually. On GPT 6 Luna, which suits simpler edits, an edit uses about 100 credits: 43 cents on Creator, and as little as 23 cents on Max billed annually. Edits with more footage or a reference video use more credits, and they’re half price too. Shorty shows the credits before you start.

What is the cheapest AI video editor for turning my own clips into Reels, TikToks or Shorts?

If you want the AI to do the editing for you, not just give you the tools, Shorty is the lowest price per finished edit we have found among editors that cut your own clips: about $2.16 on Auto and 43 cents on GPT 6 Luna on the $19 Creator plan, and less on bigger or annual plans. CenaCut, a similar tool, works out to about $3.80 a video. If you’d rather make every cut yourself, CapCut’s free plan costs nothing.

Did Shorty’s plan prices change?

No. Creator is still $19 a month, Pro $49, Studio $99 and Max $199, with 30% off when you pay annually, and each plan includes the same credits as before. What changed is how many credits an edit uses, so the same plan now makes about twice as many edits.

Do the credits I already have go further too?

Yes. The new price applies to every edit you start from today, whether it uses this month’s credits or credits you already had.

How long does an AI edit take in Shorty?

In our tests, an edit made from one clip was ready in under 15 minutes and one made from 17 clips in about 22, both about a fifth faster than before. Edits with lots of footage or effects take longer. You can close the page while it works; the finished video waits for you in Edits.

Is the quality the same at half the price?

Yes. Every edit gets the same tools, effects and caption styles as before, and a new review step: a second reviewer checks the preview against your request before you see it, and anything it finds is fixed first.

Same plan, twice the videos. Go make something.
