How to finish a Shorty video in CapCut or Premiere

Use a simple MP4 handoff

1. Review the Shorty output for the story, framing, captions and audio.
2. Request any changes you want Shorty to make, then download the approved MP4.
3. Import the MP4 into CapCut, Premiere or another compatible video editor.
4. Apply the final work you need, export and check the actual exported file.

Understand what the file contains

Rendered titles and captions are part of the picture; mixed audio is part of the exported soundtrack. Importing the MP4 does not restore the original separate title, caption, shot or music layers. If you know you need independent layers, plan the project in the editor that will own those decisions.

Revise in Shorty before flattening the handoff

Shorty supports follow-up revision requests. In supported editable compositions, you can select an editable element and describe a targeted change. Review the new version before sharing. Objects flattened into source footage are not automatically separate editable layers; the timeline is for playback and inspection rather than full manual frame-by-frame authoring.

A correction to editable text is usually worth requesting before passing on the MP4. Once text is burned into a flattened video, another editor cannot treat it as the original title layer.

Keep the originals for larger changes

Retain the source clips, licensed music and approved wording. A new sequence or a replacement shot may be easier from the original files than from the finished MP4. Choose the intended output canvas early and inspect the final export for unintended cropping or repeated compression.
