Your footage doesn’t always live on the device you edit from. Starting today, you can add videos to Shorty straight from a shared Google Drive folder. Videos made with Shorty MCP now show up in Edits, Arabic captions read the right way, and every finished edit shows a timeline of what was actually rendered.
Footage From Google Drive
Choose Google Drive in the footage picker and paste a folder link. Shorty checks the folder, lists the videos it can use, including ones in subfolders, and tells you which files it skipped and why. Select the videos you want and add them to your edit.
Before you add anything, you see an estimate of what the edit will use in credits. Checking a folder and adding videos is free. Credits are used when you edit.
Your Originals Stay in Drive
Shorty doesn’t keep a permanent copy of your Drive videos. It works from temporary copies and leaves your originals where they are. Keep the files shared and unchanged, since later edits and revisions read them again.
MCP Videos in Edits
Videos you make with Shorty MCP in Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or Codex now appear in Edits alongside everything else, from every project, so all your videos are in one place.
Arabic Captions
Arabic captions now read right to left in the correct word order, with letters properly joined. A Latin word or acronym inside an Arabic line keeps its own left-to-right spelling. Arabic edits also no longer fail while waiting for a font to load.
A Timeline of the Real Edit
Every finished edit now opens with a timeline built from what was actually rendered: each shot at its true length with frames from the final video, titles and captions on their own lane, 3D and layered graphics where the edit has them, and the soundtrack’s waveform.
Good to know
How do I share a Drive folder with Shorty?
In Google Drive, open the folder’s Share settings, set General access to Anyone with the link as a Viewer, and keep downloads allowed. Anyone who has the link can view the footage.
Does Shorty store my Drive videos?
Not permanently. It processes temporary copies and reads your originals again when it needs them, so keep the files in Drive while you’re still editing.
Paste a folder link and start your next edit where your footage already is.
