Every Shorty edit has a director: the AI that decides what to cut, where and why. Today you can choose it. A new picker in the composer lists the directors, says what each one is good at, and shows what an edit will cost and how long it usually takes before you start.
Pick the Model That Directs Your Edit
Open the director menu in the composer and choose from seven options: Auto, GPT 6 Astra, GPT 6.1 Sol, GPT 6 Luna, Claude Opus 5.5, Claude Sonnet 5.5 and Claude Fable 5.1. Each carries its maker’s logo and one line in plain editing language, like “Advanced editing for detailed briefs” or “Affordable editing for everyday videos.”
Auto stays the default and is recommended for most edits. If you already know what you want, search the list.
Know the Cost and the Wait
Each director shows the estimated credits for your clips right next to its name, with analysis and editing included, plus the typical time to finish. Below the list, Shorty sums up the estimated total and time for your current pick.
Times come from test edits we ran with each model, and estimates update as you add or remove footage. The final cost varies with the work the director actually does.
On Every Plan, and on Your Phone
Auto and GPT 6 Luna are available on every plan. The other directors are included with Pro and higher plans. They show a lock, and choosing one takes you straight to pricing.
On a phone, the picker opens as a sheet from the bottom of the screen, with every description shown in full.
Good to know
Which director should I pick?
Start with Auto, which is recommended for most edits. Try a specific model when you want a different take, a quicker turnaround or a lower estimate.
Is the estimate what I’ll pay?
It’s a guide for your current clips, covering analysis and editing. The final cost depends on how much work the edit takes.
Pick a director, read the estimate, and make the cut your way.
