# AI video editing for media teams

Turn selected interviews, event footage and supporting visuals into short editorial videos. Shorty assembles the supplied material from a brief; your editorial team checks context, attribution and the finished cut.

## Choose the story before choosing the treatment

State the point the short video should establish, identify the source moments that support it and give the editor enough surrounding context. If a quote needs a qualification to remain accurate, include that requirement in the brief.

## Match the source to the editing job

| Material | Useful direction | Review priority |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Interview excerpt | Keep a complete answer and illustrate it with relevant source footage | Meaning and attribution. |
| Event recap | Build one short story from selected moments | Chronology and what the images actually establish. |
| Explainer | Pair an approved explanation with supporting visuals | No unsupported visual inference. |
| Social adaptation | Create a separate vertical cut with readable text | Framing, captions and sufficient context. |

## Try an editorial brief

Assemble a 30-second vertical event recap from the supplied clips and approved quote. Preserve the full meaning of the quote, keep events in their actual order and use only relevant supporting footage. Add the supplied speaker name exactly. Keep dialogue audible and add no stock or generated scenes. End on the closing moment identified in my notes.

## Review the cut for evidence, not just rhythm

Check whether a cutaway implies a reaction, place or sequence that the sources do not support. Verify names and quoted words against the recording. Request specific corrections and watch the surrounding sequence again after the new render.

## Choose another workflow when needed

Use transcript-led editing when precise sentence selection across long interviews is the main job. Use a dedicated clipping workflow when searching an entire long recording for many highlights. Shorty is useful for assembling selected source material into a directed short edit; it should not be treated as a newsroom archive search or fact-checking system.

## How to evaluate the workflow

Run one representative edit through its first feedback round before planning a larger rollout. Save the brief, the first output, the revision and the approved file. Record upload time, processing time, review effort and charged credits separately. A fast first render is only useful if the result can be approved.

The workflow below is a suggested use of Shorty, not a customer case study. The linked browser test shows a real product edit and timing revision; it does not establish results for every type of team or footage.

## Keep the ideas coming

### Shorty for teams

Turn approved footage into product demos, campaign cuts and short tutorials. Shorty assembles the edit from your brief or reference; your team reviews the result, requests changes and delivers the finished MP4.

### Shared projects, footage and credits

Use a Shorty business workspace to keep your team’s footage, edits and credit balance together. The owner invites members and manages billing; members work in the selected workspace.

### A consistent visual brief

Give Shorty a reusable visual brief and an optional reference so a series of edits shares the same pacing, captions and colour direction. Review each result against the approved style.

### Inspect the first cut and a precise revision

A recorded Shorty browser test: six supplied fragrance clips became a 10-second vertical film. A follow-up request changed four shot lengths from 2.5 seconds each to 2, 2, 2 and 4 seconds.

### Shape a complete interview story

Choose a complete idea from the interview, preserve its meaning, and build a small story around it. Supporting shots, readable captions, and a deliberate ending do more than simply shortening the recording.

### Choose editing or clipping

Use a clipper when you want several highlights from one long recording. Use an editor like Shorty when you want a new video assembled from source clips around a brief or reference. The right choice starts with the shape of your footage.

## Questions, answered.

### Can Shorty verify an interview’s claims?

Editorial verification remains with your team. Check claims, context and attribution against the source before publication.

### Can we create vertical versions?

Prepare a separate brief and suitable canvas. Inspect speaker framing, captions and the context retained in the shorter cut.

## Your next video starts here.

Bring the footage. Tell us the idea. Shape the edit.
