# Learn the complete Shorty editing workflow

Follow a practical path from source footage to an approved video: prepare one edit, reuse a saved style, make a focused revision, collect timed feedback and download the deliverables.

## Find your starting point

### 1. Prepare source footage

Start with a small set of source clips that can tell the whole story. Remove irrelevant takes before you ask for an edit.

### 2. Write the brief

Describe the source footage, audience, format, story order and constraints. Tell Shorty what must remain accurate, which shot should lead and what the viewer should understand at the end. A reference video is optional; a clear written brief can supply the direction.

### 3. Save and reuse a style

Create a named Shorty style from up to 10 reference images or videos. Once analysis completes, the style is saved for reuse in the current account or workspace.

### 4. Request a focused change

Open an existing Shorty edit and describe what should change. Request a new opening, different shot timing, corrected text or a targeted change to an editable element.

### Share a cut and collect timed feedback

Open a completed Shorty edit, choose Share for review and create a link for that version. Reviewers can watch and leave comments at a video time without a Shorty account. Links expire after 30 days and can be revoked.

### Download SRT and WebVTT captions

When a completed edit has saved caption timings, open Subtitles and download SRT or VTT. These files carry caption text and timing for the edited output, ready to inspect in your video player or publishing tool.

### Watch the first cut and a timing revision

A recorded Shorty browser test: six supplied fragrance clips became a 10-second vertical film. A follow-up request changed four shot lengths from 2.5 seconds each to 2, 2, 2 and 4 seconds.

### Product demonstration lesson

Keep the cause-and-effect sequence intact and use close-ups to explain the important step.

### Screen-recording lesson

Trim waiting time, emphasize the relevant screen area and keep the actions in order.

### Speech-editing lesson

Tighten a selected spoken passage with a precise editing request, then listen across every join. Preserve intentional pauses and meaning; this workflow does not claim a one-click transcript-wide filler-word detector.
