# Original audio, dialogue and soundtrack direction

Direct how Shorty handles recorded sound, dialogue and music while editing the picture. Request source audio, a quieter music bed or a silent edit, then check the rendered result.

## When to use it

For creators who need the original voice to carry a story, brands with a narrated demonstration, and agencies revising visuals around approved dialogue.

## Inputs, decisions and output

| Part | Details |
| --- | --- |
| You provide | Video containing the sound you want to keep, plus clear instructions for speech, music and any supplied soundtrack. |
| Shorty handles | Audio handling alongside the visual edit, including source-audio playback and supported soundtrack or cue layers. Visual effects can be composed while source audio is handled separately. |
| You control | Whether dialogue should remain, whether added music or sound effects are wanted, and requests for a quieter music bed or unchanged audio during a visual revision. |
| You receive | Audio within the rendered MP4. Listen through the final file for continuity, unwanted overlap and voice/music balance. |

## How to use it

- Add footage with the original sound you want to use.
- State which audio should stay and whether to add music or effects.
- For a visual-only revision, identify the visual change and ask to keep the existing dialogue and audio timing.
- Listen to the complete new export before delivering it.

## Example instruction

Adapt this instruction to your footage and review the result.

Change only the title colour to white. Keep its wording and timing, the existing shot order, original dialogue and current audio mix. Add no music or sound effects.

## What to check

Keeping dialogue is different from preserving the entire original audio track without edits. Shortening or reordering video can change which audio intervals are heard.

Shorty renders a new MP4. Bit-for-bit audio preservation and guaranteed sample-identical timing are not established. Use an audio pass-through workflow when those are delivery requirements.

A music recommendation is not a licensed audio file. Confirm that the requested soundtrack is available in the edit and that you have permission to publish it.

### All Shorty features

Select footage, build a story, match a reference, add captions and revise the cut. Shorty edits video for creators, brands and agencies from their own source material.

### Request a visual revision

Open an existing Shorty edit and describe what should change. Request a new opening, different shot timing, corrected text or a targeted change to an editable element.

### Verified silent output and timing revision

A recorded Shorty browser test: six supplied fragrance clips became a 10-second vertical film. A follow-up request changed four shot lengths from 2.5 seconds each to 2, 2, 2 and 4 seconds.

## Questions, answered.

### Can I keep original dialogue while changing the visuals?

You can request that the edit or revision retain original dialogue and audio timing while changing the picture. Listen to the new export to verify continuity.

### Is original audio guaranteed to remain untouched?

No bit-for-bit guarantee is made. Editing and rendering can change the selected intervals, timing or encoded audio. Specify what must remain and verify the output.
